As economic news remains dire for Washington State employees, their goodwill continues to spread.
This year, in the face of decreasing job losses, salary freezes and temporary leave days, the employees of Washington State and its higher education institutions pledged yet another $5.3 million to local, national and global charities.
Employees at the University of Washington once again propelled the institution to an amazing $2 million total, by far exceeding any other higher education institution in Washington State, and the Department of Social and Health Services topped the total pledge dollar amount for state agencies with just over $515,000.

Official 2011 CFD Federation Report released to webJanuary 27, 2012
Federations are a huge part of the Combined Fund Drive campaign. They help smaller charities raise money without having to use valuable donor contributions on marketing and administrative staff.
As the numbers are being finalized, the Combined Fund Drive is releasing its annual campaign federation report to the web. For those who are interested, you can check out how each federation did during the campaign.

CFD runs contest for food banks and around the stateJanuary 25, 2012
The Combined Fund Drive ran a statewide contest for only the second time in the program's history, marking the end of the 2011 successful campaign with a Food Bank contest in which donors were asked to give to the food bank of their choice through payroll contribution.
Every $5 donated through the CFD was an opportunity for donors to win a free Xbox with Kinect.
